(Top temp – 66.5 – normal temp after fan replacement. Rose to 92 with bad fan.) Three or so years ago, I had to replace a fan on the Broadcast Pix Granite BOB. It was challenging to find a replacement fan since it uses 5V and Radio Shack is a thing of the past. Computer replacement fans use 12V. Now the same fan needs replaced again! Luckily, the electronics landscape has changed with the popularity of Raspberry PIs and Arduinos. Finding a replacement was easy, local and in stock. Show saver. https://youtu.be/OjyZKfdwlng

After a lens was dropped, I performed the unthinkable. I disassembled the lens (NOT in a clean room) and was able to reseat the third element, fixing the problem completely! In order to pull the element, a custom “tool” was needed to uncrossthread the retaining ring. A little CAD was used to get the angle and placement correct for the screws to align with the retaining ring’s notches. Even though the process wasn’t pretty, the result is a perfectly working lens, saving someone over $7000. https://youtu.be/D4dHr8evt6k
