(Top temp – 66.5 – normal temp after fan replacement. Rose to 92 with bad fan.) Three or so years ago, I had to replace a fan on the Broadcast Pix Granite BOB. It was challenging to find a replacement fan since it uses 5V and Radio Shack is a thing of the past. Computer replacement fans use 12V. Now the same fan needs replaced again! After a lens was dropped, I performed the unthinkable. I disassembled the lens (NOT in a clean room) and was able to reseat the third element, fixing the problem completely! In order to pull the element, a custom “tool” was needed to uncrossthread the retaining ring. A little CAD was used to get the angle and placement correct for the screws to align with the retaining ring’s notches.
